Ripple’s XRP, currently the fourth biggest cryptocurrency by value, according to CoinMarketCap, is fighting for its life.

XRP, the digital token controlled by the San Francisco-based company Ripple, has lost half its value in the last 24 hours, going into free fall after the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) said the token had been illegally marketed to retail customers.

Now, as a number of minor cryptocurrency exchanges remove XRP from their platforms, traders and analysts are questioning the future of XRP—with one long-time critic calling it “the beginning of the end.”

“I think it is the beginning of the end,” said Frances Coppola, a financial analyst and commentator who has publicly criticized the company and the XRP token in the past. “Investors are already dumping XRP as quickly as they can.”

The XRP price, after soaring through November on the back of a hotly-anticipated new cryptocurrency giveaway, has crashed from $0.64 to $0.30 in under a week as traders and investors process the news.

Earlier this week, Ripple’s chief executive Brad Garlinghouse revealed the SEC had filed a lawsuit against the company arguing the XRP token is a tradable asset, known as a security, and as such is subject to its regulations. The lawsuit alleges that Ripple has raised $1.3 billion in unregistered securities offerings since 2013.

U.S.-based food-delivery company says ‘unauthorized third party’ accessed user data May 4

CBC News · Posted: Sep 27, 2019 9:58 AM ET

Online food delivery service DoorDash says it’s the victim of a data breach in which the personal information of 4.9 million people was stolen, including names, email addresses, delivery addresses, phone numbers, and partial banking and credit card details.

DoorDash, which allows people to order food from a website or smartphone to be delivered to them, said Thursday an “unauthorized third party” accessed some of the San Francisco-based company’s user data on May 4.

As a result, information on customers, merchants and even some delivery drivers was stolen, including partial — but not complete — banking and credit card data, and driver’s licence numbers for 100,000 delivery people.

The company said it has closed the access point the cybercriminals used, but the result is anyone who joined the service before April 5, 2018, is possibly impacted. Anyone who joined after that date is not.

Change passwords, DoorDash urges

DoorDash says it is in the process of contacting everyone affected, but as a precaution, it is encouraging all customers to change their passwords via a dedicated website.

The company operates in 4,000 cities, including 92 markets scattered across every Canadian province, so some Canadians are impacted.

But the company won’t say how many, exactly.

“The overall proportion of users affected represents a small percentage of our community,” spokesperson Mattie Magdovitz told CBC News.

“We remain wholly focused on our investigation and on doing the right thing for the DoorDash community, particularly those affected.”

Exciting news for all technology fans. Anyone who has worked for a startup or Fintech has most definitely heard of Twilio and SendGrid.

Twilio is well known for being a platform as a service (PaaS) that simplifies building SMS, Voice & Messaging applications on an API built for global scale.

SendGrid is well known for being a platform as a service that simplifies delivering transactional and marketing emails through the world’s largest cloud-based email delivery platform.

WIth Twilio’s latest enterprise omni channel platform called Twilio Flex, this makes perfect sense since email was a missing part of the equation. This is a great move!

Last month, I covered another powerhouse Stripe, who also has been on an acquisition spree and is another darling of every startup out there.
